Where Did Earth's Water Come From?

Earth's water likely originated from carbonaceous chondrite meteorites that brought ice from the outer solar system. Unlike comets, which have a different heavy hydrogen ratio, these meteorites contain water with a chemical signature similar to Earth's. This explains how our planet, initially too hot for water, became covered in oceans.
