A man discovered a "tongue biter," a parasitic isopod, in a sea bass in 2013. This crustacean attaches to fish tongues, replacing them and feeding on their blood. While some fish survive with these parasites, they can suffer from anemia and stress. Tongue biters can occasionally end up in grocery stores.
