Laocoön, a Trojan priest, warned against the Greek gift of the Trojan Horse but was ignored. After his tragic death, the Trojans realized too late the truth of his warning. His story inspired many artworks, notably the sculpture “Laocoön and His Sons,” which influenced Michelangelo and the Mannerist movement in art.
